Skater objectives and expectations for the season:
- be on time!
- have fun! - build confidence! - learn technical speed skating skills
- work on agility - improve coordination - improve cardio
- learn to properly maintain equipment (i.e.drying off the blades)
- have water on ice to keep properly hydrated
- be respectful of the coaches
Expectations of parents:
- show up 20 - 30 minutes before practice to ensure kids are ready to get on ice on time, as the skater progresses we may implement a dryland warm-up session 30 minutes before practice
- help with mats, put them on and take them off
- parents who stay may be asked to be part of the emergency action plan (EAP)
- to be respectful of the coaches and assistants out on the ice and in the dressing room
- fundraising e.g. gift basket donations, volunteering
